Review of "Yoga in Nature: Yoga Basics,
Beginner/Intermediate"
From
the Sept/Oct 2002 NAPRA ReView:
"Don’t
be intimidated by Pilipuf’s demonstrated expertise in the opening segment;
this tape truly is geared toward the beginning/intermediate practitioner.
Beautifully filmed in a “tranquil lakeside yoga nook,” the 60-minute workout
seamlessly flows from comfortable standing poses—including shoulder rolls
and simple stretches of the fingers and hands—to some poses on the mat that
appropriately challenge beginners. Newbies should not hesitate to use the
pause button between poses in order to keep up with the pace. It’s a
comfortable hour, however, with just enough opportunity for resting (child
pose) and gentle, all-important reminders to focus on breath. The session
ends with the essential restful savasana. The video also includes a
26-minute segment that answers some yoga FAQs, offers tips for creating a
yoga nook (taking a totally realistic view of what type of equipment and
clothing is actually needed to begin a practice), and discusses proper
technique—stressing slow, gradual progress, correct alignment, and yoga
breathing methods. Placing this section at the end of the tape allows the
practice to proceed uninterrupted while still allowing for a somewhat
individualized instruction." -LM
